Grudges.

I hold grudges.

To earn a grudge from me, you have to do something heinous. This goes beyond run-of-the-mill shitty behavior. I'm extremely patient person; you can do a lot to annoy me.

But when you abandon your standards, that's when you've disrespected me. Betrayal of your own character is the ultimate insult. I will never respect someone who does not respect themselves.

I'm not vengeful. I don't actively go out of my way to spite people. I usually just go no contact. But if someone I have a grudge against chooses to engage with me, I bring hell.

My grudges expire. After 2 years, I'm ready to treat that person normally again. It's usually enough time for them to change, but it's rarely the case they do.

Most people think it's unhealthy. I think it means you have standards. Grudges are a reminder that I'm fair, but not a pushover. The standards you set for yourself are the most important choices you live with. Don't be afraid to fight for them.

In a world of shitty people, grifters, and chaos, grudges mean you believe in something. Belief is the most powerful idea in the world, but it's something you need to choose. Don't be afraid to have standards. And hold grudges.
